The Importance of a Father

This week, we first discussed cultures. When you hear the word “culture” what comes to mind? Maybe a certain group of people or food…or the thing growing on your food at the back of the fridge? How about the arts, customs, and language of an ancient people? Those are all correct answers, but there is more to it. It also includes the behaviors and attitudes of a certain social group.   In the United States there are roughly 5 main social classes- 1) upper 2) upper-middle 3) middle 4) working and 5) lower.              We had to watch a video about this woman named Tammy and her children. I highly recommend watching it.             If you don’t watch it, here’s a summary of it. Tammy is a mid 40-year-old who has at least three children. There is no husband or father in the home. They live in a run-down trailer, and she works at a Burger King, making minimum wage. She must walk 10.5 miles to...

Family: A Well-Oil Machine

Happy Friday! First off, I just wish y’all were able to be in my class this week. We had such great discussions. My mind was going a million miles a minute and I jotted down so many things that I wanted to say in my post. I am praying that I am able to write clearly and effetely all that I want to say. My family has so many faults and problems. Growing up in my family was hard. My parents divorced when I was about 11 years old. It lead to so many emotional heartaches and problems that my siblings and I had to deal with, and continue to deal with 20 years later. The things that I have seen my siblings go through as a result ...

Hello! First post to start off this blog and I’m so excited. This week in class was a real eye opener for me. We talked about the fact that families are getting smaller, that birth rates all around the world are declining, and then discussed why these things are happening. To prepare for the class we had to watch these movies about the declining birth rates and the effects of it. By the end, I was depressed about how the world was going to look in a few decades. To give you a short summary, there isn’t going to be enough people to fill jobs in the work field, so people are going to have to work harder and longer to just make enough to get by. It’s bleak y’all. I                         Elon Musk  has recently been open about his concern on this topic. He said, “I think one of the biggest risks to civilization is the low birth rate and the rapidly declining birthrate.” He went on to say, “...
